I am an art historian and curator specializing in histories of modern and contemporary art and museum studies. In May 2025, I joined Texas State University to serve as Director and Chief Curator of Texas State Galleries in the School of Art and Design, where I lead the exhibitions, public programs, and initiatives that connect the Galleries with students, arts practitioners, scholars, and communities locally and beyond.
My research and curatorial work focus on Minimalism, Conceptualism, and Institutional Critique, with a particular interest in the work of Caribbean, diasporic, and expatriate artists and curators. I received my PhD from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2024 from the Department of Art History, and my research focuses on themes of exile, migration and movement, personal history, identity, materiality, and postcolonial/decolonial theory in modern and contemporary art.
I have taught at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia and the Metropolitan State University of Denver in Denver, Colorado, developing courses that center hands-on learning, accessible content, and critical engagement. My teaching encourages students to connect personal experience with broader art historical narratives, foster dispositional curiosity, and cultivate lifelong engagement with the arts.
